Frequently Asked Questions
This tool is a color-key remover: it knocks out a solid or near-solid background color (like a white or green backdrop) and makes it transparent. It is not an AI subject-cutout tool, so it works best on clean, evenly lit backgrounds rather than busy photos.
Tolerance controls how close a pixel's color has to be to the key color to be removed — a higher tolerance knocks out more shades and shadows around the edges. Feather softens the transition at the cutout edge so it does not look hard or jagged.
You always get a PNG with an alpha (transparency) channel, since that is the only common format that can store the removed background as transparent pixels.
If your subject contains colors close to the background color (for example, white clothing on a white backdrop), those pixels can get matched and removed too. Lowering the tolerance usually fixes this at the cost of leaving a bit more background behind.
No. Everything runs locally in your browser — the image is decoded, the background color is matched and cleared, and the PNG is re-encoded on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
Yes. Drop in multiple images, apply the same color-key settings, and download the results individually or all together as a ZIP.
Every image stays on your device. No uploads, no servers, no storage.
